Brightness falls across my face

as I lay here in the dark, I can’t sleep,

so I’m jotting down the things

overflowing in my heart

My phones become my companion

not the tool that it should be

It’s with me everywhere I go

like quiet company

I justify my new friend, boldly

defending its importance

It only has my best at heart

and requires little maintenance

*

I come and go from screen to screen

no expectations or demands

It quickly aids my journey

with no fights or reprimands

Yes this small device fits gaps for me

that before would to destroy me

Now I order food with it

sit back and binge some movies

A small price a month to afford a friend

who never disagrees

Let’s me believe that I’m not alone

provides filters for my selfies

*

Don’t feel bad for me, you do it too

its in your pocket or on your bed

These high speed 5G cell phones

travel with us on the web
