Her Name

Her name was Eloise

or Adeline

He dreamt of her

most all the time

Never imagined the brutal war

going on inside his mind

Raging emotions

gunfire and bombs

Exploding around

his devoured calm

Cold sweat, hard breaths

though no real harm

has happened yet

A wendigo he hides inside

that eats away his peace of mind

But come and go

the moon will rise

no matter what

He feels inside

The monster, seething

bound to a chair

Lost in his feelings

unaware

Running from his memories

a tethered heart

left unprepared

For broken dreams

and broken skin

faint promises would do him in

Insatiable

his countless needs

Unbreakable

forever means

Lost to him

kept in a locket

Like pennies found

inside his pocket
