The hurt and the healing

She hid her disappointment, never wanting him to feel badly for the pain he caused her.

She smiled and walked on, refusing to reveal her wanting for his embrace.

She changed her mind and let go of the memories that held her there. Beginning again, becoming a newer, altered version of who she had been before.

Shedding every last expectation, looking forward to new desires, she let herself cry. Allowing the darkness to consume her completely, for a moment.

Because, the thing about pain, it demands to be felt
